The Connecticut Certification Board, Inc.

January 31, 2014

From the Desk of Executive Director, Jeffrey Quamme:

Wallingford, CT On behalf of the CCB staff and Directors, I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe 2014. Now that the holidays have passed, we are all dug in again and continually working to improve our services for certified professionals and candidates in Connecticut.

In order to be in line with most of our other credentials, the board voted in January to require one hour of ethics training per year for all co-occurring credentials (SCCD, CCDP, CCDP-D). All reciprocal credentials now require ongoing training in ethics for renewal. Additionally, there are two new approved providers who offer additional trainings in recovery coaching. PARfessionals, based in Dallas, Texas, offers live and online trainings, and the Institute of Chemical Dependency Studies (ICDS), from Austin, Texas also offers online peer recovery coach training. Links to these approved providers are located on the CCB website.

Due to the success of and positive feedback from candidates who have taken the practice exams these products will be offered internationally through the IC&RC exclusively. This change will allow practice exams to be offered on a much wider scale. It also provides many more resources to develop additional practice exams for all IC&RC reciprocal credentials. Although these are no longer CCB products, they will still be accessible through the CCB website once the IC&RC and ISO-Quality Testing complete their technical updates. I want to thank everyone who participated and provided us with valuable feedback for their assistance in this exciting development.

Notary Public services are now available at the CCB office. Certified professionals can have their documents notarized at no cost, and we will provide the same service to the general public at a nominal fee. New candidates can have their Registry applications notarized by the CCB when they are handed in. We hope that this will simplify the process for individuals seeking CCB professional credentials.

Just a reminder that open coaching is available every Wednesday from 1 PM to 4 PM. No appointment is necessary. Certification overview courses are now scheduled monthly through August 2014 at Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown. Please note that coaching is limited to individuals already in the certification process who need specific assistance with their applications.

COMING SOON! Follow the CCB on LinkedIn and on Twitter.
