New CCB Strengths-Based Clinical Supervision Pilot Program

Wallingford, CT The Connecticut Certification Board (CCB) will be piloting a new Strengths-Based Clinical Supervision Pilot Program that will provide no cost technical assistance (TA), distance learning, onsite training and consultation services designed to assist behavioral health agencies to improve their workforce development capacity. The pilot program will specifically focus on building upon and enhancing the clinical supervision practices used to promote the professional evaluation and development of CAC - Certified Addiction Counselors (or those seeking to become CACs) in various treatment settings.

The pilot program will support agency adoption and utilization of a new tool being developed by the CCB The SPARC Strength-based Profile for Addiction Recovery Counselors which is based upon the Northwest Frontier ATTC (2011, Second Edition) document The Performance Assessment Rubrics for Addiction Counseling Competencies. The SPARC identifies addiction counselor strengths and competencies by collecting data from the counselor and their clinical supervision used to develop a computer generated customized counselor profile useful for many purposes such as guiding professional development activities, identify training interests and planning clinical supervision activities.

Initially, two agencies will be selected to participate in the pilot program at no cost to the agencies or participants. In addition, participants that agree to complete the entire pilot program can receive all of the training and education hours required to apply for the CCS Certified Clinical Supervisor credential and several other incentives such as CCS application fee waiver and free education and training resources. Agencies interested in participating in the pilot program can submit a letter of interest to the CCB office by April 15, 2012.

For more information about the pilot project, please visit the CCB website at or contact Marshall Rosier for assistance.
